Mike Kearns Live

I call Ohio my home but I go where the music wants or needs to take me.

The love of music has been in my blood almost since the day I was born. I have always loved playing and performing.

Influences:

I have many influences and the most prolific are Tony Iommi, Andy LaRocque, Criss Oliva, Glen Drover and of course the late, great Randy Rhoads along with Tracy G.

Musical Training:

I wasn't always the Axe Man, I actually started out with the violin. My Aunt got me interested in the violin at the age of three. Then, at the age of five I started drum lessons after watching Peter Criss in KISS perform on The Midnight Special TV show. I was the first snare at the high school concert band at age 9.

At the age of 12 Randy Rhoads motivated me to learn the guitar. So I did what I had to and taught myself how to play. Then, at the age of 19 I got the chance to audition with Ozzy. It was tough, there were a hundred other guitarists there but I did the best that I could. What a thrill and honor to even be considered for an audition.

When I was 21 I decided to get formal training on the guitar. I took classical guitar lessons at Dana School of Music in Youngstown, Oh.

Being on stage is so exhilarating. The energy makes me feel so alive. There is nothing in the world that can match the way it feels.

I would never give this up. No matter if I'm doing solo performances or recordings, on the stage with my band or recording with other musicians, I'm always doing what I love, and that's rockin' with my friends and fans.

Music is just part of my love for the arts.

I truly enjoy to perform before a live audience. To see my fans in the audience dancing, jumping, moshing; gives me the inspiration to keep rocking out.

Among this, I get great satisfaction in composing, writing and of course teaching. In other words, music is very important to me.

Music is important to me and should be important to everyone! It's essential to us all.

I would have to say that it would be a shame to see the music disappear from our schools. We need to Keep the Music Alive. The option for music classes is something today's youth needs and deserves.
